Rules

I am not an explorer. I am not a last minute adventurer. I am a planner and a get-things-doner and a stick-to-the-schedule and don't-waste-timer. This is a natural behavior that I came pre-wired with. It's in my personality. It's in my brain. It is practiced, and relished. It's how I live.

But lately, I find myself longing to be a little less rigid. No, a little less afraid. Because I am afraid. Of what? Of being late? Of not being able to predict what my day will be like? Of not crossing something off my never-ending list? Of disappointing someone? Of disappointing myself?

Today I am deciding that I will be less afraid. At least to start. I am promising myself that I won't put time limits on myself (unless they are necessary for work/assignments of course), especially when I am out and about and going and doing and exploring. Because it is important for me to breathe every once in a while and break my own rules.

I am going to do something I didn't plan on doing. And see something I didn't plan on seeing. And go somewhere I didn't plan on going. And I am not going to feel bad about it one bit. I'm going to stop, and smile, and take a picture, and be inspired to break some more rules.
